Significant Damage to Uncle Eddy’s in Buxton Following Early Morning Fire

Buxton, North Carolina – A shocking early morning blaze significantly ruined the landmark establishment of Uncle Eddy’s Frozen Custard and Mini Golf located at 46878 N.C. Highway 12 in Buxton, causing heavy property damage. The fire broke out in the early hours of Friday, April 12, leaving the community and the owners in shock.

Emergency Response and Fire Control

The Buxton Volunteer Fire Department (VFD), Hatteras VFD, and Frisco VFD were dispatched to the scene at 12:13 a.m. on April 12. Dare County Sheriff’s Office and Dare County EMS also swiftly responded to the emergency. Despite the early morning hours and wind speeds of more than 30 mph, the firefighters managed to get the majority of the fire under control quickly, taking approximately 45 minutes to subdue the incident, according to Deputy Chief Jeffrey Del Monte of the Buxton VFD.

The crews spent an additional two hours combing the site for any remaining hot spots throughout the structure, ensuring the fire’s complete extinguishment to prevent any further damage or potential reignition. Despite the substantial damage to the main building, the firefighting crew successfully prevented the spread of the fire to neighboring structures. No injuries were reported in this incident.
