Five Regular Season Productions Light Up Theatre of Dare’s 34th Season
Theatre of Dare’s upcoming 34th season promises to deliver a roster of captivating shows, introducing a mix of comedy, romance, suspense, and great music. The season will feature five regular productions, all set to grace the troupe’s Kitty Hawk stage beginning from September 2024.
“Big names, big shows, big entertainment,” expressed Evan Tillett, the President of Theatre of Dare. Last season, the theatre saw a whopping sell-out rate of 77% among its 35 mainstage performances. Given the impressive stats, season tickets – now available on the Theatre of Dare website – are the best bet for theatre enthusiasts to secure their seats.
The Line-Up
Season tickets, which start from $75, guarantee you a seat at the following five regular season productions:
Social Security
(September 20 – 29)
This comedy revolves around the chaotic lives of Manhattan art gallery owners Barbara and David Kahn as they navigate family complexities sparked off by the arrival of Barbara’s mother and a sexually promiscuous niece.
Misery
(November 8 – 17)
The classic Stephen King thriller comes to life on stage with this production. Misery presents the unsettling story of injured novelist Paul Sheldon, who finds himself trapped in the home of his unpredictable ‘number one fan’.
Lizzie
(January 31 – February 9)
Lizzie Borden’s infamous crimes become the central focus in this engrossing rock n’ roll musical. It offers a peek into the mind of the infamous axe-murderer and explores the motivations that could have led her to carry out such heinous acts.
Significant Other
(March 21 – 30)
The show, a heartfelt yet unromantic comedy, follows the trials of Jordan Berman as he grapples with the challenges of finding love while providing emotional support to his newly married friends.
9 to 5
(May 9 – 18)
Adequately described as a big, bold musical, this Dolly Parton creation breathes life into the 1980 comedy film, as three female coworkers plot their revenge on their ill-mannered boss.
Season ticket holders enjoy priority in choosing their preferred performance dates before tickets are released for general sale. In addition, they get early access to purchase tickets for two second stage “Off ToDway” productions; ‘Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus,’ and ‘Now and Then.’
VIP Access
By offering a VIP season ticket at $90, the theatre also caters to its patrons desiring premium access. This special package includes early entrance to the theater for priority seating.
“We believe that the Theatre of Dare season tickets offer the best entertainment value on the Outer Banks,” says Kelsey Thompson, the business manager. “This season is set to be another filled with incredible performances. A season ticket guarantees you will be there for all of it.”
As the local community awaits the unveiling of the productions, it is evident that another year of outstanding local theatre is coming to the Outer Banks, one thrilling performance at a time.
