As temperatures rise this July, the renowned Theatre of Dare is cooling things down with a unique twist on holiday entertainment. Breaking into the summer season with a bang, the theater’s main idea was to introduce productions that are lighthearted, entertaining, and suitable for the entire family.
“We wanted shows that would bring joy to our tireless locals and serve as a hilarious entertainment option for our visitors. We aim to provide a show to which they could bring the whole beach house,” commented TOD Business Manager Kelsey Thompson.
Aptly named, the “Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)” is set to spark a festive spirit in the sizzling summer heat. This madcap romp, uniquely played by a trio of accomplished actors, illustrates an inventive journey into holiday tales and traditions, scheduled to perform every Wednesday night in July at the Theatre of Dare, situated in Kitty Hawk.
The laughter begins when the trio leader, ambitiously initiates Charles Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” but her partners manage to steer the story toward a more humorous route. Viewers should expect a whirlwind of jokes, witty costume changes, audience collaboration, and highly amusing interpretations of holiday favorites such as The Grinch, Rudolph, Frosty, and indeed, A Christmas Carol.
Theatre of Dare is hopeful that this innovative, family-friendly, and air-conditioned theatrical show will establish a new tradition for both the local fans and the beach-going tourists.
“This is three actors hamming it up and having fun, and when they have fun, the audience will have fun as well. Don’t expect any hidden meanings or deep philosophical themes in this one,“ assured the director Bert Plante.
‘Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some!)’ will be performed at 7:30 p.m. on July 10, 17, 24, and 31. All performances will be at Theatre of Dare in Kitty Hawk, 3848 N. Croatan Highway. Tickets are priced at $15 and can be purchased online as well as at the door, subject to availability. The production is suitable for families, although it does contain a comedic debate on the existence of Santa Claus.
The Theatre of Dare is incredibly excited to bring this unique ‘Christmas in July’ experience to the Outer Banks and looks forward to entertaining and enchanting audiences across the beach community this summer. The madcap holiday romp promises to be a fun-filled escape from the summer heat, ensuring laughs and merry entertainment this July.
