As we gear up for the much-anticipated Thanksgiving holiday, residents in Dare County should brace themselves for some temporary closures that will affect various local services. If you’ve been meaning to visit any of the county offices, now’s the time to circle the dates on your calendar!
Mark your calendars, because all Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Thursday, November 28, 2024 and Friday, November 29, 2024 in observance of Thanksgiving. That means if you have business to take care of, you’ll want to do it before the holiday rush!
The closures include some essential spots like the Dare County C&D Landfill located in Manns Harbor, the Buxton Transfer Station, and the Manteo Recycle Yard. But don’t worry, they will open again with their regular hours on Saturday, November 30, 2024!
All other Dare County offices and facilities will bounce back to their normal operating hours on Monday, December 2, 2024. So, if you need to take care of anything in person, you’ll have to hold off until the holiday dust settles!
Speaking of holiday preparations, the Dare County Public Works department is also tweaking the trash collection schedule to accommodate Thanksgiving celebrations. Throughout the holiday week, which runs from Monday, November 25, 2024 through Friday, November 29, 2024, there will be one residential pickup per area.
So if you live in the unincorporated areas of Dare County or the Town of Kitty Hawk, keep this in mind:
A quick reminder: the Dare County Public Works Department only offers trash collection for the unincorporated areas of Dare County and the Town of Kitty Hawk. If you live within the limits of a town, it’s best to check with your local municipality for any changes in the trash collection schedule.
If you want to be in the know about future trash collection alerts and updates, visit DareNC.gov/PublicWorks for more information!
As Thanksgiving approaches, it’s an excellent time to reflect on what we’re thankful for while also planning accordingly for any holiday festivities. Whether you’re enjoying family dinners or prepping for fun-filled gatherings, make sure your trash is taken care of so you can focus on enjoying the season.
From all of us, we wish you a joyful Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and moments that you’ll cherish for years to come!
