On a peaceful Thursday, June 6, 2024, the charming town of Southern Shores, North Carolina came together to remember and celebrate the life of Grace Suzann Forzese Ghirardi, who passed away at the age of 76 at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. Grace’s story began on December 19, 1947, in the bustling city of New York, New York, where she was born to Alice Jean Puccini Forzese and John Joseph Forzese.
Grace was not just a remarkable individual; she was the echoes of love reverberating through her family. She was a devoted wife to her beloved husband, William R. Ghirardi, and a loving mother to her three wonderful sons: Justin, Daniel, and Christian Ghirardi. Her legacy continues through her granddaughters, Daphne and Chloe Ghirardi, who brought her immense joy and pride. Grace’s family was always a priority for her, as was her profound faith.
Grace’s dedication to both faith and education was remarkable. She earned her undergraduate degree from La Roche University and later a master’s degree in religious education from Duquesne University. With these qualifications, she began a meaningful career as the Director of Religious Education for the Diocese of Pittsburgh. Grace’s commitment to education was not just her profession but a calling she held dear to her heart. She later continued her inspiring work at her parish, St. John Newman.
Upon moving to Southern Shores, Grace quickly found her place within the community, becoming an integral part of Holy Redeemer By-the-Sea Catholic Church. Her dedication to her faith was evident as she embraced various roles in the church, both professionally and personally. Grace was a devout Catholic, serving as a vocalist and Eucharistic minister at mass. Her vibrant spirit resonated with many, as she showcased her love for song and contributed to the music ministry.
One of Grace’s greatest passions was working with youth. Whether it was through mentoring teenagers or guiding young adults, she always managed to bring out the best in others. Grace loved promoting service and inspiring spiritual growth, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless individuals. Those who knew her often felt the warmth of her prayers and the strength of her unwavering support.
Grace’s legacy will be honored in a special way. A Mass of the Resurrection is scheduled to take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Holy Redeemer By-the-Sea Catholic Church. Rev. John F. Hanley, osfs will officiate this heartfelt gathering, where friends and family can come together to celebrate the life of this extraordinary woman.
Grace Suzann Forzese Ghirardi will be deeply missed. Her family, friends, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her will hold her memory dear in their hearts. If you would like to share your condolences or memories of Grace, you can do so at Twiford Funeral Homes, Outer Banks, who are assisting the family during this difficult time.
As Southern Shores mourns the loss of Grace, we also celebrate her life filled with love, faith, and service to others. She truly made a difference in this world, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
