Community Mourns the Loss of Remo Moscatelli: A Legacy of Faith and Service

Remembering Remo Moscatelli: A Life of Faith, Family, and Service

Kitty Hawk, NC – The vibrant community of Kitty Hawk is mourning the loss of a cherished member, Remo Moscatelli, who passed away peacefully at the age of 90 on August 31, 2024. This kind-hearted soul was not just a resident; he was a beacon of hope, faith, and love to everyone who knew him.

A Life Well-Lived

Remo was born on October 4, 1933, in Nanticoke, PA, and his journey through life was nothing short of inspiring. A devoted family man and member of the community, he proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. After returning from military duty, he set off on a professional journey that reflected his hardworking spirit and dedication. His career began in a rather charming manner—delivering telegrams on a bicycle for Western Union. Over the years, he found his calling at General Dynamics, where he made quite an impact over a distinguished career that lasted more than 50 years.

A Commitment to Faith

For the last two decades, Remo attended Still Waters Baptist Church in Nags Head, NC. He loved his church community and was known for his welcoming nature. Previously, he had been a member of several churches in Maryland, including Maryland Avenue Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of New Carrollton, and Grace Baptist Church. Remo didn’t just attend church; he actively participated in it. From welcoming newcomers to leading Bible studies and Sunday school classes, his commitment to public service through faith was unwavering. As a dedicated deacon and a participant in the visitation ministry, he touched countless lives, encouraging and uplifting others in their spiritual journeys.

Leaving a Lasting Impact

One of Remo’s proudest achievements was his involvement in the establishment of Camp Wabanna, aimed at providing young people with a solid biblical foundation and an enjoyable environment. His enthusiasm for youth ministry was contagious, and he worked tirelessly to make the camp a safe haven for countless children and teenagers.

A Legacy of Love

Those who knew Remo understood his passion for sharing his faith. He was never shy about proclaiming how his life transformed in 1956 when he met his lovely wife, Alice Marie Flowers Moscatelli. Their love story blossomed, and together they walked hand in hand for 68 wonderful years. Remo is survived by Alice, as well as his son, Steven Moscatelli (and his wife, Teri) of Bowie, MD, his daughter Denise Moscatelli of Kitty Hawk, NC, and his adored grandchildren Lauren Nguy, Melanie Wooldridge (and her husband, Jeff), and Christina Moscatelli. The family also treasures Remo’s great-grandchildren, Kaelyn Avery Nguy and Harper Grace Nguy. Remo was preceded in death by his parents, Columbia Pasquale and Remo Moscatelli, as well as his son-in-law, Jeff Locker.

Celebrating a Life

In honor of Remo’s life, a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Still Waters Baptist Church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Camp Wabanna, located at 101 Likes Road, Edgewater, MD 21037, in memory of Remo.

Remembering a True Friend

As we reflect on Remo Moscatelli’s life, there’s no doubt that his spirit lives on in the hearts of those he touched. His kindness, faith, and unwavering commitment to family will forever be cherished in both Kitty Hawk and beyond.
