Kill Devil Hills, NC – It is with a heavy heart that we share the news of the peaceful passing of Timothy James Born, a 63-year-old resident of this charming coastal town. Tim left us on September 30, 2024, but he certainly leaves behind a legacy in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Born on November 27, 1960, in Baltimore, Maryland, Tim was always a man of many talents and vibrant passions. He graduated from Chesapeake High School and took on a profession in carpentry, where his expert skills and unwavering attention to detail truly shone. From cozy homes to stunning installations, Tim approached each project with a level of craftsmanship that spoke to his commitment to quality.
But it wasn’t just carpentry that defined Tim. He was a talented woodworker who mesmerized many with his ability to create absolutely stunning nautical wood carvings. His tiki bars, infused with his artistic charisma, brought joy and a bit of tropical flair to gatherings with friends and family. He had a knack for transforming simple pieces of wood into beautiful works of art, each telling a story of the sea and its mysteries.
Tim’s love for the great outdoors was matched only by his passion for fishing. There was something about the call of the water that drew him in. Countless hours were spent casting lines, reeling in fish, and spinning tales at Avalon Pier, a place he loved to frequent daily. The pier was more than just a fishing spot for Tim; it was a community where he formed friendships and shared memorable moments with others, bonding over the simple joys of life.
While Tim was celebrated for his talents and passions, he was first and foremost a loving family man. He is survived by his three adoring children: Abby Larson, Zach Born, and Molli Born. His siblings – Lisa Weishaar, Michael Born, Scott Born, and Katie Born – along with numerous friends, are left with treasured memories of Tim’s warmth and kindness. Anyone who crossed paths with Tim will surely remember his easy smile and generous spirit.
In accordance with his wishes, no formal service will be held at this time. Instead, Tim’s family encourages everyone to take a moment to reflect on his spirit in the tranquil beauty of the seas he loved so much. Whether it’s a quiet moment at the beach or a day spent fishing, Tim’s essence will linger in the ocean breeze and in the laughter of shared stories.
The family is being assisted by Twiford Funeral Homes, where condolences and cherished memories can be shared at www.TwifordFH.com. Although he has departed this world, Timothy’s spirit will continue to inspire those he touched.
As we remember Tim Born, let us celebrate the life of a remarkable man who filled the world with beauty, laughter, and kindness. From his remarkable handcrafted creations to the tranquil moments spent by the water, Tim’s legacy is sure to live on in the hearts of many.
