Frisco Residents Experience Dramatic Chase as Suspect Attempts to Evade Law Enforcement

Frisco, NC – Early on the morning of July 23, 2024, residents of Frisco witnessed an intense police chase that ended with a dramatic arrest. The incident kicked off around 7:13 AM when a sharp-eyed deputy in the C-District spotted a vehicle parked at the Frisco Bath House. The vehicle belonged to a person with a couple of outstanding warrants, prompting the deputy to make contact.

A Routine Check Turns Into a Chase

As the deputy approached, the situation quickly escalated. The driver, who later turned out to be 60-year-old George Thomas King of Buxton, did not heed commands and instead sped off northbound on NC Highway 12. The deputy promptly activated blue lights and sirens, but King was determined to evade capture. This reckless decision turned a routine check into a chase that had the community buzzing.

Effective Response from Law Enforcement

Fortunately, additional units were on hand to assist with the situation. A lieutenant from the Sheriff’s Office deployed stop sticks strategically along the route, near Spencer Lane in Frisco. These devices successfully deflated all four tires of King’s vehicle. Despite this setback, the chase continued until he managed to reach the parking lot of Phillip’s Boat Works in nearby Buxton.

The Conclusion of the Chase

Once in the boat works’ lot, King lost control of the vehicle and came to a standstill. Law enforcement officers quickly surrounded the vehicle, effectively blocking any avenue for escape. After a tense moment involving a brief struggle, the team was able to take King into custody without further incident.

Charges and Consequences

Following his arrest, King faced a major list of charges. Initially taken in for the two outstanding warrants for (M) Larceny, his charges grew significantly. He was also charged with (F) Flee/Elude with Motor Vehicle, (M) Resist, Delay and Obstruct (RDO), (M) Reckless Driving to Endanger, (M) Carry Concealed Weapon, and (M) Unsafe Tires. Following his arraignment, a judge set his bond at an astonishing $20,000 secured.

A Community on Alert

Residents were understandably shaken by the high-speed chase but expressed relief that law enforcement acted swiftly to ensure everyone’s safety. Many were pleased to see multiple agencies, including the NC State Highway Patrol and Dare County EMS, jump in to assist. The teamwork displayed during the incident is a testament to the community’s commitment to safety and law enforcement’s dedication to their duties.

What’s Next?

This incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictability of life in Frisco and how quickly things can turn from routine to dangerous.
