Taste of the Beach Expected to Draw Crowds to Outer Banks Restaurants

KILL DEVIL HILLS, N.C. — Taste of the Beach Underway

The renowned annual event, Taste of the Beach, is now happening in the Outer Banks and is expected to run through the weekend. The event, orchestrated by the Outer Banks Restaurant Association, boasts participating restaurants ranging from Rodanthe to Manteo to Duck.

The buzzing Outer Banks Brewing Station, situated in Kill Devil Hills, is proudly hosting four events during the Taste of the Beach event, which includes a tantalizing chowder cook-off set for this weekend. Managers Tiffany Schisler and Elizabeth Clark-Gomez describe the event as an opportunity to bring to light the creativity that resides both in their kitchen and in their customer service.

Preparing for the Big Event

The preparation for Taste of the Beach is a meticulous process involving coordination between staff and suppliers, and creative input from the chef and brewmaster to ensure everything is in place. With its vast variety of offerings and the anticipation of the upcoming high season in the Outer Banks, the event draws crowds not only to the beaches but to the restaurants as well.

Jolly Roger Restaurant and Bar Expansion

Jolly Roger Restaurant and Bar is another bustling location that is not only preparing for the Taste of the Beach but also working on a major expansion slated to be ready by the end of the year. The expansion will feature a two-story bar and an entertainment venue.

Andrea Sullivan, the general manager at Jolly Roger, confirmed they are in the process of interviewing and hiring more staff to cater to the expected influx of guests. This includes foreign exchange students, who are consistently part of their seasonal workforce.

Welcoming the Expected Crowds

Sullivan expresses her enthusiasm for welcoming the expected crowds for this weekend’s event, stating, “I just look forward to showing people what we have going on, bringing them into our world, and becoming part of theirs.”

While many of the Taste of the Beach events are fully booked, some still have tickets available and more information about the remaining tickets can be accessed on the Taste of The Beach website.

More Stories from The Outer Banks

Other cuisine-related stories that are gaining attention in the Outer Banks include the globally inspired menus in Duck restaurants as the area gears up for its busy season, as well as the major renovation project of the historic Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, which is garnering curiosity from visitors. Other reports showcase recent law enforcement action, community housing issues, and environmental concerns.
