Hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites at the exciting Jockey’s Ridge Crossing, this festival is set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, August 7-8, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. It’s a fabulous event that promises to be filled with fun, learning, and adventure!

The Outer Banks has a rich history intertwined with pirates, and this festival gives you the chance to explore that history in a hilariously engaging way. Become a Scallywag!

One of the main attractions at this year’s festival is the Scallywag School. This unique experience invites young adventurers to test their mettle and see if they have what it takes to join the ranks of pirates! Interested in registering? It will only cost you $10 per participant, which can be done effortlessly online. Mark your calendars: registration goes live the month prior to the event!

Scallywag School offers multiple time slots each day at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., so parents should act fast! These slots fill up faster than a pirate ship can set sail! Each session lasts for 30 minutes, and once the aspiring young pirates complete their training, they will receive an official certificate — a treasure worth boasting about!

This year at the festival, attendees will also get to meet the renowned Blackbeard’s Crew from Hampton, Virginia!
