Get ready to don your pirate hats and grab your eyepatches, because the Outer Banks Pirate Festival is sailing into Kitty Hawk this August! Hosted by Kitty Hawk Kites at the exciting Jockey’s Ridge Crossing, this festival is set to take place on Wednesday and Thursday, August 7-8, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.. It’s a fabulous event that promises to be filled with fun, learning, and adventure!
Do you think you know everything there is to know about pirates? Well, prepare to be amazed! The Outer Banks has a rich history intertwined with pirates, and this festival gives you the chance to explore that history in a hilariously engaging way. Come and learn about the real-life swashbucklers who roamed the coast and made the Outer Banks their home.
One of the main attractions at this year’s festival is the Scallywag School. This unique experience invites young adventurers to test their mettle and see if they have what it takes to join the ranks of pirates! Interested in registering? It will only cost you $10 per participant, which can be done effortlessly online. Mark your calendars: registration goes live the month prior to the event!
Scallywag School offers multiple time slots each day at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., so parents should act fast! These slots fill up faster than a pirate ship can set sail! Each session lasts for 30 minutes, and once the aspiring young pirates complete their training, they will receive an official certificate — a treasure worth boasting about!
This year at the festival, attendees will also get to meet the renowned Blackbeard’s Crew from Hampton, Virginia! As seasoned experts in pirate history and lore, they will guide the Scallywags and share incredible stories. Parents and kids alike will be thrilled to learn from these knowledgeable pirates who are dedicated to bringing the fun to the festival.
The Outer Banks Pirate Festival promises something for everyone, whether you are a pirate fan or just in for a good time! Come dressed in your best pirate attire, enjoy family-friendly activities, and indulge in various pirate-themed games and crafts. There will be plenty of opportunities to take pictures with pirate crew members, and you may even spot a treasure chest or two along the way!
This festival is not only about learning but also about bringing the community together. With kids running at top speed in pursuit of adventure, parents will enjoy meeting other families and sharing in the laughter and excitement of this unique celebration.
So, mark your calendars and prepare for an incredible pirate adventure right here in Kitty Hawk! The Outer Banks Pirate Festival is all about celebrating history, having fun, and making memories with family and friends. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to dive into the swashbuckling world of pirates!
Remember, registration for the Scallywag School will be available soon, and it’s strongly recommended to register early, as spots fill up quickly. Set your alarms, gather your crew, and get ready for a piratical good time!
