Groundbreaking Ceremony Celebrates Expansion of Outer Banks Health Family Medicine Practice in Manteo

Expansion Marks Significant Milestone

Manteo, NC – A significant milestone was celebrated by Outer Banks Health on 19th March 2024 as the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its Family Medicine practice in Manteo, North Carolina, took place. This momentous occasion coincided with the 22nd anniversary of the opening of the Outer Banks Health Hospital.

The expansion project aims to double the size of the existing building, resulting in a 7,500-square-foot facility dedicated to providing primary care services to the community. As the second largest practice in Dare County, serving 3,600 patients, this expansion comes as a great gain to the local community.

New Opportunities and Enhanced Services

The president of Outer Banks Health, Ronnie Sloan, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to enhance the health care services in Dare County. “We have seen fortunate growth over the last year and a half with the addition of six additional providers to primary care,” said Sloan.

The visionary leadership of one of the first full-time physicians in Dare County, Walter Holton, MD, was also recognized. His dream of one day expanding the clinic is finally being realized.

Enhancement of Accessibility

An essential aspect of the expansion is enhancing accessibility for individuals with physical disabilities. Moreover, the new building’s entrance will face the highway for ease of access. This development serves as a testament to Outer Banks Heath’s dedication to ensure care accessibility to all community members.

Continued Commitment to the Community

The expansion of the Family Medicine practice in Manteo reflects Outer Banks Health’s ongoing commitment to advancing health care delivery and meeting the community’s evolving needs. The recent opening of the state-of-the-art Cowell Cancer Center underlines this commitment further.
