The Ocrafolk Music and Storytelling Festival, a vibrant spectacle of arts and culture, is set to return to the Outer Banks on the grounds of the captivating Berkley Manor this weekend. Celebrating its 24th anniversary, the festival, organized by the non-profit entity Ocracoke Alive, has become a cornerstone of Ocracoke Island, eagerly awaited by both locals and visitors alike.
The festival attracts a multitude of musicians, storytellers, and artisans, showcasing the rich, diverse culture of Ocracoke Island. An immersive range of musical genres from blues, country, soul, funk, classical, to bluegrass and spiritual are to be performed by over two dozen artists.
Performers like Diali Cissokho and Kaira Ba, Clements Brothers, Cold Chocolate, Lipbone Redding, the Rev. Robert Jones, and many more have been lined up for this year’s iteration. Craftsmanship at the festival isn’t in shortage either, with an array of skilled artisans exhibiting diverse forms of work – clay pottery, masterful woodwork, breathtaking paintings, intricate metal, leatherwork, and much more.
In addition to the four-stage performances, the festival has planned various kid-friendly activities, including manual fish-print shirt creation using locally caught fish. A lively square dance, a puppet parade that never fails to fascinate, storage workshops, and an expansive artisan village for visitors to explore, make the festival a complete package of fun and culture.
Festival tickets are priced between $25 and $90, founded on the length of stay, and whether they were bought in advance or on arrival. It’s worth noting that entry is free for children aged 17 and below. This year, in an effort to further involve the local community, passes for local residents have been introduced.
Proceeds generated from the festival are utilized to support student and community development programs, fortifying education and overall growth in the region. More details about this, along with ticket and other relevant information, are accessible at the official festival website.
With an overwhelming flush of support and enthusiasm from the public, the Ocrafolk Festival is all set to light up the Berkley Manor throughout this weekend, immersing attendees in the local music, stories, and artistry that Outer Banks proudly houses. A perfect blend of entertainment and cultural significance, this festival is, undoubtedly, an unforgettable experience for all ages.
