The search operation also encompassed air support, with the U.S. Coast Guard conducting an extensive helicopter survey during the wee hours of February 14th, reassuming the search mere hours after the missing person call.

After hours of relentless searching, a drone led by a volunteer citizen unveiled the tragic outcome. In the marshes of Rodanthe, the missing person’s body was spotted, which was reported to the authorities right away at approximately 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The body has since been transferred to the Medical Examiner’s Office located in Greenville, North Carolina. The ongoing investigation conducted by the Dare County Sheriff’s Department has the community in suspense.
