Buxton, NC – The charming town of Buxton is buzzing with anticipation as we get ready for the annual Holiday Art and Craft Show hosted by the Hatteras Island Guild! This year, the event will take place on November 29 and 30, right after Thanksgiving, and it’s sure to be a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season.

Held at the Buxton Secondary School on Hwy 12, the show opens its doors from 10 AM to 3 PM. The event promises to be a delightful mix of artistry and community spirit. Keeper James and his partner Miz Linda will be returning to the show for another year. “Last year was just glorious! Not only did we sell plenty of books, but we also met so many incredible people,” shares Keeper James. “It’s those personal connections that make the event so special.”

The Hatteras Island Guild, originally rooted in medieval associations, continues to build that sense of community by bringing artists and craftspeople together for the shared goal of mutual support. “We are a guild in every sense of the word,” Keeper James emphasizes. “And I’m thrilled to be part of this group!”

He will be showcasing his latest work, “Shipwrecks of the Outer Banks: Dramatic Rescues and Fantastic Wrecks in the Graveyard of the Atlantic.” This captivating book tells the stories of the United States Life-Saving Service, an inspiring yet often overlooked part of American history. Over its 44-year run, this service bravely saved over 177,000 lives from peril at sea, operating only with small boats and sheer courage. As Keeper James puts it, “It’s a tribute to those heroes who risked their lives to save others.”
But that’s not all! He has a sequel on the way, titled “Shipwreck Rescues of the Outer Banks: Sensational Wrecks and Heroic Rescues by the United States Life-Saving Service.” Scheduled for release in April, this sequel promises to shed even more light on heroic tales from the coast, further connecting the community with its rich maritime history.
