This Fourth of July, the beautiful Outer Banks of North Carolina is all set to light up the sky with a range of festivities that promise to be a blast! With something for everyone, these celebrations will make beautifully memorable moments as we come together to celebrate America’s 248th birthday.
Corolla Kicks Off the Celebrations
If you find yourself in Corolla, be sure to check out the fun at the Whalehead Club. Festivities will start at 5 p.m. and will include live music, entertainment, and food vendors to tempt your taste buds! Best of all, admission and parking are both free. Just remember to arrive early as on-site parking opens at 3 p.m. The grand fireworks display will light up the night sky at dusk, so make sure you stick around for that!
Join the Parade in Duck
In Duck, start your day with excitement as the traditional Fourth of July parade rolls through town at 9 a.m. The parade runs for a mile, beginning at the crest of Scarborough Lane and making its way towards the ocean. Once it’s over, join the community at Duck Town Park for live music, cold drinks, and the ceremony for parade trophy winners. It’s not just a celebration; it’s a community connection!
Fireworks in Kill Devil Hills
As the sun sets, head to Kill Devil Hills for their annual fireworks show at Avalon Pier starting at 9:15 p.m. Thanks to a grant from the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau, this display will be visible from all areas near the oceanfront. And if the weather doesn’t cooperate, fear not, as July 5 has been designated as a rain date!
Nags Head: A Spectacular Show
Nags Head will also have you gasping in amazement with their annual Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular at 9:25 p.m. at Nags Head Fishing Pier. The show promises to last approximately 25 minutes! Just a quick note: Parking will be directed by local police, so consider parking east of U.S. 158 for safety.
Manteo’s Waterfront Festivities
Manteo is gearing up for a delightful day by the waterfront with activities starting at 3 p.m. Events include a decorated bike contest, fun live music, and delicious apple pie! The fireworks are scheduled to light up the night sky when darkness falls, so join in on the fun and take advantage of shuttle services that will ferry you from designated areas.
Hatteras Island and Ocracoke Island Celebrations
In Hatteras Village, get your golf carts ready for the annual July Fourth golf cart parade kicking off at 6 p.m. This fun parade supports the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation! Later, if you find yourself in Avon, the fireworks display at the Avon Pier will begin around 9:15 p.m. Be mindful of limited parking and consider biking or walking!
Lastly, don’t miss out on the three-day celebration happening on Ocracoke Island. Fireworks will launch on July 2 at Silver Lake Harbor, followed by an old-fashioned square dance and fish fry on the 3rd. The grand finale is on July 4, featuring a sand sculpture contest, tours of the famous Ocracoke Lighthouse, and a themed parade focused on famous duos. It’s a town-wide celebration that’s sure to be a hit!
