If you’re in the beautiful town of Kill Devil Hills, we have some important news coming your way! The Dare County Parks and Recreation Department is launching a project that promises to improve our local facilities and keep our community thriving.
Starting Monday, October 28, 2024, the gymnasium located inside the Dare County Youth Center at Family Recreation Park will be closed for a short period! This closure will last for three weeks, wrapping up on Monday, November 18, 2024. What’s the reason for this? Well, the roof of the Youth Center is getting a much-needed makeover!
During this time, you might want to pick up some new hobbies because traditional activities like volleyball and pickleball will be canceled. It’s a little sad for the players, but think of it as a brief timeout so that we can enjoy an upgraded space in the near future!
For those of you wondering about the after-school programs, fear not! The dedicated team at Dare County Youth Center will be moving those activities into the multipurpose rooms within the building. So, kids will still have a safe and fun space to hang out and learn, even as the gym gets a facelift.
Additionally, any meetings originally scheduled in the multipurpose rooms will continue as planned. That’s good news for community organizers and those who rely on these spaces for their meetings and events!
This roof replacement project is part of a larger effort by Dare County to renovate and enhance outdated Parks and Recreation facilities throughout the area. The goal? To better serve our community and make these spaces more enjoyable for everyone. It’s all about creating a fun, safe, and welcoming atmosphere for families and individuals alike!
With future plans coming together, Dare County hopes that we will all soon see remarkable changes in our beloved Parks and Recreation facilities. So, while a bit of patience is required, know that these efforts are aimed at making KDH an even better place to live and play!
If you want to stay in the loop about these activities or perhaps check out upcoming events, consider looking at the calendar of Dare County Parks and Recreation Northern Beach Division. It’s filled with plenty of fun things you won’t want to miss!
For any further questions, or to know more about this exciting renovation, you can reach out to the Northern Beach Division office at 252-475-5920. They are always ready to help and provide information!
While the gym renovation is in progress, keep your eyes peeled for other interesting activities in and around Kill Devil Hills. For instance, don’t forget that the historic Chicamacomico Life Saving Station is remembering the U.S. Navy submarine, The Moccasin. It’s a great way to learn more about our local history!
Also, avid readers and fans can look forward to a book signing with author and therapist Kathleen Brehony at Downtown Books. It sounds like a lovely way to spend an afternoon and engage with your community.
We hope you’re as excited about these improvements and events as we are! Stay active, stay engaged, and let’s look forward to all the positive changes coming our way in Kill Devil Hills!
