In collaboration with Gale, an international provider of research and learning resources, and Udemy, the top online learning marketplace, the Dare County Library now offers the Gale Presents: Udemy platform. This cutting-edge tool connects users to video-based courses spearheaded by top experts in a wide array of fields including business and technology.
From learning how to code, preparing for IT certifications, honing leadership competencies, producing a podcast, enhancing office productivity, to unlocking creativity, Gale Presents: Udemy provides users with access to a wealth of knowledge and skill-building opportunities. According to Dare County Librarian, Meaghan Leenarts Beasley, this unique online platform allows Dare County residents to continuously update their skill set and further their personal interests in line with current industry trends.
With Gale Presents: Udemy, users can access courses across 75 categories, ranging from cloud computing, data science, design and development to finance and accounting, leadership and management, and many more. Catering to a global audience, it also offers 15,000+ courses taught in native languages such as Spanish, German, Japanese, Arabic, and Portuguese. The platform aims to meet the demands of an ever-changing job market where upskilling is key to staying competitive.
The platform allows patrons to learn at their own pace, anytime, and anywhere. Courses can be downloaded for offline use or listened to podcast-style. They can also be streamed via Chromecast or Apple TV. To support diverse learning styles and preferences, most video courses have subtitles and/or transcripts.
