Dare County Announces Office Closures and Schedule Changes Ahead of July 4th Celebrations

Public Works Department Confirms Independence Day Operations Plan

Dare County Public Works Department has declared that Independence Day, July 4, 2024 will see no changes to the residential or commercial trash collection schedule. All unincorporated areas of Dare County, along with the Town of Kitty Hawk, where Dare County Public Works also carries out trash collection services, will operate on the usual schedule.

However, in observance of Independence Day, all Dare County offices will be closed on July 4, 2024. The scheduled closures include the Dare County C&D Landfill, Manns Harbor Transfer Station, Buxton Transfer Station, and Manteo Recycle Yard.

Dare County Offices to Reopen on July 5

All Dare County offices and related facilities are set to reopen and proceed with their regular scheduled hours on Friday, July 5, 2024.

Dare County uses this opportunity to extend Independence Day greetings to its residents, property owners, and tourists, wishing everyone a safe holiday weekend. Please note: The Dare County Public Works Department only provides trash collection for the unincorporated areas of Dare County and the Town of Kitty Hawk. If you’re residing within any of the incorporated towns within Dare County, please contact your town municipality for any potential trash pick-up schedule changes in your area.
