Dare Arts Welcomes New Team Members as 50th Anniversary Approaches

Exciting New Beginnings at Dare Arts in Manteo

Manteo has a buzz of excitement in the air as Dare Arts welcomes two fantastic new members to their team! This fall, Robert Rogers has stepped in as the Program Director, while Karah Young takes on the role of Arts Administrator. With their arrival, Dare Arts is gearing up for an exciting journey ahead, especially as the organization prepares to celebrate a remarkable 50 years of arts in the community next year!

The Vision Behind the Addition

Jessica Sands, the Executive Director of Dare Arts, shared her enthusiasm about these new additions to the team. “While expanding our community engagement programs and preparing for our 50th anniversary next year, it quickly became evident that we needed additional support,” said Sands. “We are thrilled to welcome Robert and Karah to the fold. They bring new and inspiring perspectives to our organization!”

Meet Robert Rogers

Returning to the Outer Banks from sunny Sarasota, FL, Robert Rogers brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience in the world of arts and community engagement. Previously serving as the Community Engagement Manager for the Boys & Girls Club of Manatee County, Rogers carries with him a background rich in arts management, cultural programming, and event development.

“This opportunity to support Dare Arts’ mission is truly a full circle moment for me,” Rogers stated, reflecting on his journey. “Having spent the last 30 years wandering the planet in pursuit of my passion for community-engaged arts and collaborative practices, I am incredibly happy to be back home, making a contribution to the Outer Banks’ thriving cultural landscape.” He believes wholeheartedly that “creative expression that emerges from communities of people working together improves their individual and collective experiences. Art truly is a universal language!”

Karah Young Joins the Team

As Dare Arts looks forward to its 50th anniversary in 2025, the team is excited to have Karah Young on board. Currently finishing her last online class at the University of North Carolina Greensboro, she will graduate in December with a Bachelor of Arts in Arts Administration. Prior to joining Dare Arts, Karah gained valuable experience as an intern at the Arts of the Albemarle in Elizabeth City, where she was involved in community events and sponsor outreach.

“My time at Dare Arts has been amazing so far,” Karah expressed, sharing her excitement about her new role. “Engaging with the lovely community of downtown Manteo has been a refreshing change of pace for me. I am so excited about the opportunity to work with the wonderful staff here, and I am greatly honored to have been brought on to assist with the 50th anniversary next year! As an addition to the team, I hope to serve as a beneficial asset to keep the mission of Dare Arts going for years to come.”

What’s Next for Dare Arts?

The team is committed to fostering a vibrant arts scene in Dare County through advocacy, enrichment, and opportunity.
