Hey there, Nags Head! We’ve got some fantastic news to share with you. The Children & Youth Partnership for Dare County (CYP) is turning 30 years old, and they’re throwing a big birthday bash to celebrate! Mark your calendars for September 21 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Dowdy Park. It’s going to be a fun-filled afternoon for families, friends, and everyone in the Dare County community.
You won’t want to miss the exciting activities planned for the day! There will be plenty of yard games to enjoy, so grab your competitive spirit and get ready to have some fun! Plus, enjoy lively music featuring the interactive tunes of Nature Out Loud, perfect for getting everyone up and dancing.
If you have a sweet tooth, you’re in for a treat! Snowballs from Island Snowball Co. will be available to cool you down, and of course, there will be cake while supplies last! And let’s not forget about the scavenger hunt that will keep the kiddos and parents alike on their toes as they explore the park!
A special highlight of the day is the appearance of the Nags Head Fire Department. They will be bringing their fire truck and offering courtesy car seat safety checks for anyone who’s interested. It’s a great opportunity to ensure the little ones are safe while traveling.
Alongside all the fun, you can also participate in a raffle featuring some amazing family-friendly basket prizes! Raffle tickets will be available for just $1.00 each, and all donations from ticket sales will help support the CYP’s Endowment Fund through the Outer Banks Community Foundation. What a fantastic way to give back to our community while having a great time!
For those who may not be familiar with CYP, it’s a non-profit organization that has been a lifeline for children, youth, and families in Dare County since its founding in September 1994. The organization was born out of a vision to connect local families with resources and programs, and it has certainly done just that! Over the years, CYP has introduced various initiatives, including Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, the Triple P- Positive Parenting Program, and many other programs aimed at ensuring that local children have the best start in life.
From the Smart Start program catering to children from birth to age five, to community events like KidsFest, Block Play Extravaganza, and the Soundside FunFair, CYP has consistently worked to enrich the lives of our youth and their families. Their dedication is an invaluable resource in our community, bringing people together and fostering an environment where every child can thrive.
As you gear up for the celebration, take a moment to learn more about the wonderful programs and services offered by CYP. Stay updated by following them on their Facebook page or visiting their website at darekids.org. If you have any questions or need more info, feel free to give them a call at 252-441-0614.
So, gather your family and friends and come join the CYP for a day of fun, laughter, and community spirit as they celebrate three decades of making a difference in the lives of Dare County’s children and families. We can’t wait to see you there!
