Big Boost for Community Care Collaborative in Elizabeth City

Elizabeth City is buzzing with excitement as the Community Care Collaborative (CCC), an important program of the Albemarle Area United Way, has just received a generous $10,000 matching grant from a donor-advised fund of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation. This funding will play a key role in continuing their vital work of assisting local residents facing temporary emergencies.

Crisis Help for Over 2,000 Households

Since its launch in 2019, CCC has made a significant impact in the community, helping over 2,000 households. To date, they have invested more than $700,000 in local families, with an average of approximately $475 per case. The organization serves residents across the Pasquotank, Camden, Perquimans, and Gates Counties, ensuring that no one is left to navigate a crisis alone.

A Call to Action for the Community

With this matching grant, CCC is encouraging individuals and businesses to contribute to their fund. The goal is to raise $10,000 in donations by December 31, 2024, which would then be matched dollar-for-dollar, effectively doubling the impact of every contribution. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and lend a helping hand!

How to Help

Donating is easy! You can mail your contributions to AAUW at P.O. Box 293, Elizabeth City, NC 27907 or make donations online at www.aaunitedway.org by selecting the Community Care Collaborative option. Every bit counts, and knowing your gift could be doubled motivates many community members to step up as generous givers.

A Message from the Executive Director

Executive Director Bill Blake expressed his gratitude for this opportunity, stating, “These funds will be critical to enabling us to continue the good work of aiding our neighbors, especially in the wake of the pandemic and inflation challenges.” He remains optimistic about reaching the matching goal, citing the overwhelming support from the community.

Community Love and Support

Blake is confident that the love for one another within Elizabeth City will drive contributions. “I have no doubt folks will contribute to support our friends and neighbors,” he affirmed. With the holiday season just around the corner, it’s a perfect time to spread some cheer and kindness among the community.

Volunteer Efforts Shine Bright

Led by the dedicated Alexandra Lekki, CCC volunteers have been making a tangible difference in the lives of many residents. With the generosity of current and future donors, they can continue to support those facing difficult times. “We are so thankful for the generosity of this matching donor,” said Blake, highlighting the importance of community involvement and support.

Final Thoughts – Be a Blessing

As the community gears up for the holidays, CCC is calling on everyone to come together and support their fellow neighbors. Their work is a reminder that being able to lend a helping hand is both a privilege and a responsibility. The spirit of giving goes a long way, and donations can truly be a blessing for those in need, especially right now.

So let’s show our love for one another and help CCC reach their goal! Thank you for being the heart of Elizabeth City!
