OBX Blanketeers Set to Host Annual Quilt Exhibit on March 9 Featuring Over 400 Handcrafted Quilts

OBX Blanketeers to Unveil Quilt Exhibit on March 9

In a dazzling display of craftsmanship and goodwill, OBX Blanketeers will host their annual quilt exhibit this weekend.

As spring starts to reveal its colors, the town of Duck in Outer Banks (OBX), North Carolina gears up for an event that unites both the town and wider community. The OBX Blanketeers, a local quilting group, will host their annual quilt exhibit on Saturday, March 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Duck United Methodist Church.

Over 400 Quilts to be Displayed

Visitors will be treated to more than 400 quilts meticulously crafted by the members of the OBX Blanketeers. Each quilt is a testament to the group’s dedication and creativity, boasting striking patterns and vibrant colors. This family-friendly event is free and open to the public.

Following the exhibit, the quilts will find homes beyond the confines of the Duck United Methodist Church: they’ll be donated to local and regional organizations. This commitment to community service has been at the heart of the OBX Blanketeers since their formation in 2000.

Making Quilts, Making a Difference

The OBX Blanketeers don’t just sew together fabric; they weave together compassion and artistry to help those in need. The quilts displayed on March 9 will be donated to a variety of organizations, providing comfort to children and adults who are ill or in need.

Previous recipients include local dialysis centers, early childhood education programs, veterans groups, and women’s and children’s shelters, and international organizations like Operation Smile. Over the years, the OBX Blanketeers have provided much-needed aid and warmth to countless individuals.

Inspired by the motto “Blankets of Love”, the OBX Blanketeers have, since the turn of the century, ignited the spirit of giving across the Outer Banks region. The annual quilt show is not just an exhibition of their talented quilt-making, but a showcase of their commitment to spreading love and warmth.

Craftsmanship and Humanity Go Hand in Hand

The OBX Blanketeers’ annual quilt exhibition is more than just a display of beautiful handwork, it’s a celebration of a community coming together. This weekend, visitors to the Duck United Methodist Church will witness not only the vibrant artistry of over 400 quilts but also an inspiring act of generosity.

The OBX Blanketeers have truly combined craft and charity in a remarkable way, making a tangible impact on numerous lives. They are the perfect example of how hand-crafted goods can create ripples of change within a community. The group serves as an inspiring reminder that everyone has the power to make a difference, one stitch at a time.
