During this monthly event, Manteo’s dynamic downtown environment is on full display, highlighting the area’s businesses, restaurants, and galleries that make this central Outer Banks village so unique. The First Friday in Manteo is a street event that will make any new visitor fall in love with this picturesque seaside hamlet. It is held every month on the first Friday of the month.

Duck NC

Every year in early October, the Town of Duck invites jazz to Duck Town Park. This event is free and open to the public. Food and drinks are available for purchase from local restaurants, and chairs can be rented. Food, coolers, chairs, blankets, and well-behaved dogs are also welcome.

There will be no beach umbrellas or tents allowed during the event. The Duck Jazz Festival takes place in rain or shine.

With plenty of fresh seafood, storytelling, and activities to keep everyone entertained, the Outer Banks Seafood Festival is quickly becoming one of the fall season’s highlights. This all-day festival takes place in Nags Head’s waterfront Event Site and is a family-friendly adventure that will make anyone fall in love with this Outer Banks culinary staple.

Tuesday, October 18th – Sunday, October 23rd

Rodanthe

The Outer Banks, and in particular the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge, is renowned as one of the top bird-watching places in the world, and the annual Wings Over Water event celebrates this reputation like no other local festival. The week-long event, held in October, includes a variety of educational events, talks, and opportunities to meet and greet fellow birders.

Attendees will also be able to go on guided birding tours, attend art and photography workshops, take a tram or kayak tour of the National Wildlife Refuge, explore an old maritime forest, and much more during this year’s festival. Come celebrate Pirate Halloween on Ocracoke Island! The Ocracoke Pirate Jamboree is a multi-day yearly festival that features a family-friendly Pirate Encampment by Blackbeard’s Pirate Crew on Ocracoke Island, as well as a world of fun on the southern Outer Banks.
